Selective functionalization of hierarchical porous materials is outmost importance for many different applications. A major problem the arises from process itself. novel gas phase was used to modify surface newly developed inorganic-organic hybrid nanomaterials with trimodal porosity, using 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS). It found that mesopores material possible, while micropores stay selectively non-functionalized after oxidation. Interestingly, initial are modified, up a degree can be reached usually only by co-condensation approaches, which however difficult perform on PMO-derived materials.
